What I Love Wednesday – 4Moms Clean Water Infant Tub

2011 April 6

When Ethan first came home, he was so little that it was easier to give him a sponge bath instead of putting him in his tub…I felt like he would drown at any moment in all that water! But now that he’s bigger (and since he was around 7.5 pounds) we use our fantastic infant tub. And it’s my featured product this week!

4moms Infant Tub

I registered for this tub at Target.com because it featured a water flow system that keeps the water warm and clean throughout the bath. Especially after bathing Ethan in the tiny pink tubs at the NICU, we realized how inevitable it is that pee and/or poop will end up in the tub. When this happens, you have to take a wet baby out of the tub, put him in a towel so he won’t get cold, wash out the tub, refill the water (making sure to get the temp right again!) and put now dry baby back into water where a new freak-out ensues.

Not with the 4Moms tub! Check out this ingenious contraption:

This is how it works:

There is a drain in the Fresh Water Reservoir and one in the Main Bathing Tub. They make emptying the tub a snap. Especially the one in Main Tub…easy to get the soapy water out to be replaced with clean water. The Fresh Water Reservoir keeps water from entering the main bathing area directly…this way you can easily control the temp if the faucet is not consistent.

We especially love the temperature gauge in the Fresh Water Reservoir because there is no wondering if the water is too hot or too cold. We know it’s just right! We leave the water running gently while Ethan is in the bath so the water cycles through.

When Ethan gets bigger and can sit on his own, we can put this tub in our bathtub. Right now it’s too much of a strain on my back to keep him sitting up while leaning over the bathtub into the infant tub.

Baths are quickly becoming fun because Ethan is really starting to like them! The crying is decreasing with each bath. We only do it every other day right now, but eventually we will probably make baths part of our evening routine.

Here is a little video of bath time…WARNING —there is wienie involved.

    Great Blog.
Couldn’t open the 4Moms video from 4/6 Blog.
But I can tell that Ethan will be ready for the Big Persons Jacuzzi.

There is no link to a 4moms video…just the YouTube video of Ethan in the bath. The like to their site works for me…not sure which one you have having trouble with…let me know and I’ll get it fixed!

WOW what a fancy tub! I have never seen this before! We got a simple baby bath tub and we HATE it! It’s so much easier to just but her in the sink! We also just bring her in the bath tub with us sometimes too..we are kinda old fashion and cheap! he he

Good point… I forgot to mention this tub is under $40! Not bad and we should be able to use it for a while. I can’t wait to take a bath with Ethan! I’m nervous about it now with how small he is, but we should try it. I just know how slippery he is when he’s all soaped up!
