What Ethan’s Saying

2012 June 24
by Becky

Ethan has always been a verbal baby. Go figure, since the Hubs and I HATE talking (ha ha).

He says something new every day, constantly repeating words we say to him or around him. (Which means we need to start being more careful…it’s like a truck stop around here sometimes). And when I say “talking”, I don’t mean just saying something he hears. The kid KNOWS what each word means. Sure, he may think “please” means “more” (because I urge him to say it when he’s begging for food), but for the most part, he is talking with a purpose.

While I’m sure this list will be outdated within hours of being published, here are things we hear out of Ethan pretty darn regularly.

  • Mama
  • Dada
  • Luke
  • Lyla
  • Dewey (Di-o)
  • milk (maulk)
  • cracker (ka-aa)
  • blueberries (blu-bwe-on)
  • bread
  • eggs
  • apple
  • water (wa-wa)
  • grapes (gay-p)
  • snack
  • puffs
  • banana
  • cake
  • book
  • more
  • boat
  • bath
  • please (pees)
  • help (hep)
  • rock (gock)
  • car
  • truck
  • bye bye
  • down
  • out
  • ball (all)
  • done
  • no (no, no, no, no)
  • yeah
  • stick (ick)
  • hot
  • cold
  • uh-oh
  • omelette (omet)
  • I know (I know, I know, I know)
  • Go Dog (Go Gog)
  • bubbles
  • shoes
  • socks
  • tree
  • kitty (ke-ee) or kitty cat
  • dog (daag)
  • owl (oo-hl)
  • pig (ig)
  • cow (though he usually says “moo”)
  • duck
  • bird

I’ll never get over the pleasant surprise of Ethan saying real words. “Please” is one of my all-time favorites, mostly because of his sweet and innocent delivery (usually in order to get something he wants).

Despite being a preemie, he sure isn’t behind schedule in the talking department!

I just love the picture of Ethan on the fencepost!! His croc’s are darling!!

Ethan is blessed to come from a long line of talker’s…I’m sure its on both sides of his family. His Aunt Amy and cousin Annette are real talkers. Plus he’s got to keep up with mom and dad.

Way to go little man!! Keep on chattering away…He is soooo smart!!!

Can’t wait to hear that “talking” in person next Tuesday. Lots of new words to learn around here.
