Visiting Nebraska To Say Goodbye
Last Tuesday, Stu’s grandma, LaVina Voboril, passed away. She was 86 years old and a mother of three, grandmother to nine, and great-grandmother to six. We are so sorry that Ethan never met his Great-Grandma LaVina…they would have loved each other. Below is an incredible photo that was used in her obituary. She was an incredibly strong woman who raised an incredible family.
If anything good can come out of death, it’s the gathering of family and friends to say goodbye. So many family members are traveling long distances for the funeral tomorrow.
We arrived in Columbus, NE on Saturday night, having decided to drive during the dark in order to avoid confusing Ethan’s day/night schedule. He was perfect in the car and slept almost the entire time. When he was awake, he was happy and looking at the toys attached to the handle of his carseat. The eight hour drive flew by and we arrived around midnight.
We settled into Stu’s Mom’s aparment…we actually didn’t bring as much stuff as I thought we would! It was a chore packing because this is our first overnight trip with the little man. But we set up the Pack n’ Play (bet you can’t guess what my featured product will be this week!) and crashed after the long drive. We spent Sunday with Linda (Grandma Johnson) and Stu’s Grandma and Grandpa Johnson (Sam and Kathy-grandparents on his Mom’s side). It was the first time Ethan got to meet his Great-Grandparents!
Stu and Kathy making the Ethan laugh
Ethan will meet many more family members tonight and tomorrow. We will see almost all of Stu’s family on this one trip! Then we will head back home tomorrow afternoon/evening.
