NICU—Day Thirteen

It is snowy here in St. Louis!  Things have shut down a little today due to the weather.  But it couldn’t keep us from seeing the little man.

Weight today: 3 pounds 14 ounces!

Only two ounces till four pounds…it will be quite the milestone.

Ethan is taking all of his food every three hours with no spit-ups.  His Apnea has reduced to almost nothing…he very rarely has ‘episodes’.  While working with the physical therapist this morning, she mentioned that he is doing great with his pacifier.  He is ‘cupping’ his tongue which is just getting us that much closer to breast feeding.

We are still ‘nuzzling’ for two-three feedings a day.  He can latch for a few seconds, but gets tired quickly.  The nurses and lactation consultants say this is very normal, and he will begin nursing for longer and longer every day.
