They Call Him Ethan 007

Cheesy, I know.

But when your precious boy looks a heck of a lot like a little James Bond running around, it’s hard to hold back.

You saw his walk down the aisle on Monday’s post, but I can’t help but share more pics of The Peanut all dressed up for his ring bearer duties at Erika’s wedding.

You may be wondering why he is in a yard, not in a church. Well, to my dismay, no one got a shot of Ethan in the full get-up. Yes, I know the wedding photographer will have something fabulous, but I have no patience to wait for that! Here I was snapping pics left and right all day but I put my camera down during the ceremony (I had a bouquet to carry and the bride’s train to attend to) and before I knew it, Little Man was headed home and I was on a party bus.

So grandma and I put the whole outfit back on the next day. I know, mean right? Poor kid thought his tight-necked-too-hot-tux-wearing days were a thing of the past and here we make him do it all over. He tried to run as soon as he understood our intentions.

But he succumbed to pleading (and a little restraining) and humored us by wandering around the yard while I snapped 100 pictures (with my ISO set appropriately this time, unlike the day before. Learned that lesson!) He was just as cute the second time around. Even cuter when we got him to put down the watering can.

I call this last one his “after party” look. Can’t you just see him rolling out of a limo, 2am, shirt partially untucked, ready for the next party? Apparently I see my child as a mini-celebrity.

In case you are wondering, I got the tux from a consignment store called Bellies and Babies in Del Ray, just a couple miles from us in Old Town. I had scoured the internet, message boards, eBay, but was afraid I’d get something a) too expensive, b) cheap looking, and c) ill-fitting. So when I was tipped-off about this 12 month size After Hours tux hanging in the shop, I immediately called to reserve it. It’s too long in the pants and jacket, but a little quick, temporary hemming solved that problem. I found a mini-tie (also difficult!) on to complete the ensemble. Very glad I went with a straight tie over a bow tie…he matched the wedding party and looked SO grown up. We skipped the vest because, first of all, I left it at home, but second of all it was SUPER hot out and it wasn’t needed.

He’s like “Oh Lady-babies!! Check out this hot stuff!!!”

The Converse sneaks were the piece de resistance. And we will get lots of wear out of them!

So I mentioned Ethan wasn’t thrilled with putting on the outfit again? Yeah, he made it about 20 minutes before he’d had enough and started taking it off. It freaks me out that the trailer for Magic Mike going through my head.

Couldn’t quite figure out the pants…

Nonetheless, he was pretty happy to be released from the button-shirt prison.

So that is my cute Peanut, all dressed up and walking around the farm. I’m very temped to keep the tux so I can put it on him every now and then, for fun. Maybe I’ll don a dress and we can play “Going to the Ball”. (Ok, don’t worry, I don’t do stuff like this…very often.) But since I know that fun will be entirely one-sided, I better consign it again or sell it to a friend. If you are interested, let me know quick!

Guess I’ll have to wait till Halloween to get him dressed up again (check out last year’s costume). Lots of costume planning time!!
