Melissa & Doug Water Wow

Melissa & Doug’s Water Wow! is living in my diaper bag. Forever.

So the other day we were having a birthday lunch with friends out came this miraculous water-pen-coloring-book. I thought Ethan’s eyes would pop out of his head, he could barely wait for a turn. The book was full of uncolored pictures of princesses and unicorns and when his turn rolled around he was a water coloring fool.

As soon as that little wet bristly brush hits the page it comes to life with bright colors and fun details. “Mom look, a bird in the cloud!!” It’s the small, simple things that always impress the most.

I pulled out my phone to check Amazon (oh Amazon, how easy you’ve made impulse shopping) and there it was…in several different themes. I figured Ethan would appreciate the “Vehicles” version and I was right. Now at restaurants or waiting rooms all I need is a few teaspoons of water to keep the little man happy for a nice long time.

After making all the colors vibrant and gorgeous, it only takes 15 minutes or so to start all over again with dry pages. Once emptied, the pen stores in the front cover so it won’t go astray in the depths of the diaper bag.

And NO mess. No accidentally taking the blue marker across the page and Mom’s white shirt.

Until now, our busy-bag arsenal was comprised of stickers and of course the iPhone…I always try to put off the iPhone as long as possible. This small flip-book fits right in my bag or purse easily and is always a hit with Ethan and his buddies.

Who else has tried these? Are you amazed!??
