Pumpkin Patch Perfection
I grew up going to pumpkin patches every year. They are a huge part of why I love fall.
So we thought it would be a perfect outing while Grandma and Grandpa Schon (my parents) were visiting this past weekend. We asked around and heard Cox Farm was the place to go. And OH. MAN. was it great!
I wasn’t sure Ethan would get anything out of this experience to the pumpkin patch, since he’s still so little, but I think it’s safe to say he loved it. From the abundance of sweet straw to the plethora of fuzzy farm animals, he did everything. We had incredible weather and spent hours exploring all this little autumn mecca had to offer.
I think I was more excited then anyone about all the animals—pigs, chicken, ducks, cows, llamas, goats, turkeys, and long horns were all out on display and most very pet-able. Ethan didn’t hesitate to get his hands out to pet everything, he’s a brave little peanut. He loved the baby chicks so much, I almost want to get him one for home (don’t worry, I won’t). He laughed when they pecked his hands as he stuck his fingers through the wire.
No, we didn’t coordinate our outfits. But it worked out! As you can see, Ethan had had enough of the pumpkin patch by the time we were wrapping up. He was a happy camper for the 2+ hours we spent there, so he was ready for a nap by the end.
I can’t say enough about Cox Farms for the Northern Virginia area…it has everything a pumpkin patch should. We were lucky to be able to go on a week day to avoid the crowds, but it’s a big place so I’m sure it’s fun on the busy weekends too.
I can’t wait to return next year when Ethan is older! He’ll enjoy it even more.
It was a perfect day.
