Our First October Visitors: Gaga & Papa Voboril
It’s been a fantastic weekend with Gaga and Papa Voboril!
The air has a welcome chill and the frequent rains have the local vegetation looking lush and green. The leaves have just a hint of yellows and reds, preparing us for the spectacular fall scene for which our neck of the woods is known.
The weekend began with a walk through the Old Town farmers market, the men decked out in Husker gear in anticipation of that evening’s big game (Stu was so excited to watch a game with his Dad). Ethan was sure to stay close to Papa…they had an instant bond after too many months apart.
(too bad Nebraska got their butts beat, BAD, just hours later)
Just walking around the neighborhood, grabbing lunch, and taking a little drive down the George Washington Parkway was enough to fill the beautiful day. We found some fallen leaves, perfect for stomping. There was also a little time for shopping…(stay tuned for Ethan’s Halloween costume!)
We showed Gaga and Papa all our favorite Old Town spots, taking the wagon along for a few stops.
There was time for fresh bread and a “jam session”.
While the music was great, it’s a good thing everything is electronic. Pretty sure our neighbor wouldn’t appreciate Zeppelin and The Beatles blaring through the adjoining wall.
Sunday we headed to our favorite museum.
The Udvar-Hazy Center National Air and Space Museum (the one by Dulles airport, not The District) is always an incredible sight. A perfect place to see amazing things, learn some valuable information, and entertain kids of all ages. Ethan loved it even more this time than last. The hands down favorite was, again, the space shuttle Discovery (which recently replaced the Enterprise). It alone is worth the trip out.
Our fun will be continuing into the week! Then Ethan and I hit the road for my cousin Monica’s wedding in STL while Stu entertains our second set of guests here in VA. The third weekend Erika and Jeff arrive, finally my parents will be here the last weekend.
It’s a busy month.
Hope you are getting some of this fall weather! It’s about time.
