Our Family Christmas

Merry Christmas!! Happy Holidays!

Hope you had a fabulous Christmas morning with your loved ones. We certainly had a wonderful day with Ethan! It began with special pjs from Grandma on Christmas Eve.

We Skyped while he opened them…fleece jammies covered in polar bears, perfect. He put them on and we left some cookies, milk, and carrots out for Santa and Rudolph (no other reindeer matter to a two year old). Then it was off to bed as he recited the order of events, “Santa down chimney, presents, rudolph, presents, stocking…” He knew.

He woke to a full stocking hanging on his bedroom door and snowflakes hanging just outside. The cookies were eaten and milk gone. And the tree was full of presents…

There were dinosaurs.

He instantly fell in love with the brontosaurus. Carried it around all day long. “Where is bront-saurus?” was his constant question.

Books—some homemade by grandparents.

Potato Heads.

More books.

A toaster. (Maybe to go with an extra special birthday gift?) We “ate” a lot of toast with butter and honey.

There were even a couple presents for us parent people.

And then the choo choo’s started to appear. The list began with a shiny new Thomas from Auntie Erika…we told him Santa helped her pick it out (since this is what he specifically requested of Santa).

A few more wrapped train cars, some accessories, and we revealed what was hidden under the couch…

We could hardly get the train board pulled out before he was driving Thomas down the tracks. The tunnel was an immediate attraction—made me SO glad I found it online. Good thing we made the table big because he sat right down in the middle. The Peanut resembled Godzilla walking through the tiny train town.

Some dinosaurs trekked through town too. And Mr. Potato Head. Hey, it’s a diverse little city.

We didn’t go too crazy with presents, I’d say we had just enough. But everything still took hours to open. We loved watching Ethan play with each and every toy, reading all the books. Before long, he was totally pooped.

Even after all the new toys were opened, Sharky wasn’t forgotten.

After a snack and a little “How To Train Your Dragon” watching, he was back at playing. (Making toast for his dinosaurs apparently)

All our planning and excitement paid off. It was a wonderful Christmas. Our good little guy got a few much-needed new toys to keep his playtimes busy, thanks to Santa and wonderful family and friends who sent very cute gifts. We appreciate you all so much.

Hope your morning was perfect!

Now on to the birthday…

I’m glad he liked them too Jen…I was worried he wouldn’t care! Isn’t that usually how it is? They like the box better than the toy? Glad your day was Merry!
