New York Getaway
I’m embarrassed to say we’ve lived in DC Metro of a year and a half and just now made a trip to New York. But with my parents in town for Ethan’s birthday party, we took the opportunity to escape for a couple days on our own…for the FIRST time.
Yikes.
But Ethan was blissfully happy with Grandma & Grandpa Schon so we snuck out early on the Wednesday after New Years to catch a train.
So this post isn’t 10 feet long, I’ll let the pictures do the talking…
8am Acela train from DC Union Station Penn Station. Easiest travel ever and only 2.5 hours.

Danji, Murray’s Bagels-Chelsea, Momofuku-East Village, Danji, Spotted Pig, Magnolia’s Bakery-Greenwich Village

St. Patrick’s —WOW.

Ethan would go nuts at FAO. The giant hippo alone would make him the happiest guy ever.
Greenwich Village bar hopping with a stop at Cafe Wha…an amazing recommendation from my friend Kate.
Bryant Park holiday shops – one of our favorite spots
Sun!! Didn’t see much of it.

Last minute tickets to Evita…with Ricky Martin! Incredible.
Last of all, one of our favs, the Highline.
It was FREEZING cold the three days we were there—maybe the coldest days of the year. But with layers and layers of clothes on, we had a blast walking everywhere (and taking a cab now and then). Staying in Chelsea meant nothing was too far, but we didn’t venture past W 59th…it was just too cold. We saw lots of stuff and ate tons of good food. And just when I thought I couldn’t bear being away from Ethan a minute longer, we were home.
Apparently three days is my limit.
Can’t wait to head back in the spring with The Peanut in tow! Thank you to all of our friends for the amazing recommendations…no way we would have found some of this stuff without you.

I loved the pictures!!! I especially loved all the food pictures!!! I want to go back myself…so much to see, and do and eat!!
I cannot wait to chat with you via skype and see my grandson.
So glad you had a great time.
So glad you had a great time. Guess it could only be surpassed by the wonderful time we spent with our “big boy.” We loved every minute of quality time and look forward to our next time with him. He was perfect. Thanks for giving us that opportunity.
You’ve inspired me!
