I am not a morning person. I like to say I’m a morning person in a non-morning person’s body…my brain wants to wake up early, but my body just wants to snuggle in the covers. But no matter how sleepy I am, I look forward to seeing Ethan’s morning wake-up smile. It is the sweetest, most innocent, and loving expression I have ever witnessed. It’s like he can’t wait to be picked up so he can see what this day has in store.

It makes morning so much more bearable.

I say “Good Morning” and unswaddle him, then turn off his white noise and open the curtains while he stretches and wiggles. Then I pick him up and it never ceases to amaze me how much bigger he feels!

Every day I ask, “Ethan, did you grow last night?”
He responds with “Geh” or a squeal.

When I lay him down on his changing pad, I notice his hands move more smoothly, his eyes focus more clearly, and he is making new noises. He is growing and changing so rapidly that even after just nine hours (sometimes more) he is clearly different. Bigger, stronger, more alert, and more capable.

At our doctors appointment on June 15th, Ethan weighed 12.5 pounds and was 24″ long…numbers I’m sure are no longer correct. And while he is barely on the ‘growth chart’ (if at all), he is right where he is supposed to be. He’s a sturdy little man!

And I hope we aren’t stressing him out too much with this move. Overall, he seems to be his happy self.

I’m going to do my best to keep up with posting throughout the next week, but it may be a challenge what with picture taking and all. I do have 13 hours in a car to get some ‘work’ done, so hopefully I’ll have fun things to show off in July…the blog is getting an ‘upgrade’!

No matter what, I’ll have new house photos up within a week!

That was beautiful and I had to keep from crying while I read it. Your thoughts on your baby in the morning would make a beautiful poem. It’s almost finished. Motherhood suits you perfectly. He looks so great in the picture.

I have to agree with your Mom, Rebecca! Your insights to motherhood are beautiful and you may be surprised to know that will always be with you. I often think of my babies in much the same way and they are 37 & 39 now. You never stop being a mother! You never stop loving your children. Best wishes to you all in your new home!
