Hair Loss &, A Hat, and A Fairwell to Froggy PJs

Baby-Pattern Baldness
If you haven’t noticed yet, Ethan has lost a little hair. Actually, a lot of hair. Although it’s completely normal and probably due to a change in hormone levels, we are pretty bummed because he had so much hair for his first 12 weeks! I loved petting his little head…it was so soft and fluffy. And he loved having it washed. But it will be back soon I’m sure. Stu’s mom said the same thing happened to Stu when he was a baby…and Stu has NO shortage of hair now, so I think we’ll have a furry little man again soon. The funniest part about the hair loss is that it’s really only the top that is gone…the sides are still pretty full!

Here is a before and after for you…it’s been progressive over the past two weeks or so, but this is a most vs. least comparison:

Along with the missing hair comes some dry scalp. We are treating it with olive oil, which really seems to help. He looks like a greasy-haired little dude though…it’s comical.

The Hat Finally Fits!
After making cute baby booties for a few of my friends’ baby girls, I wanted to knit something for Ethan. I started a hat while I was pregnant, but immediately tore it out when he arrived…it was WAY too big! I had been experimenting with self-striping yarn, so I just started over with a smaller size. I used double pointed needles and after a few rows of garter stitch to prevent rolling, I just knit in the round for the rest. So it only took a couple evenings to knock out a very cute hat. And now that it’s getting nice and warm outside, it fits! But since St. Louis spring weather is completely different every day, we’ll get a few days to wear it.

I was looking forward to knitting him more cute little things, but now think it’s getting too warm to wear them. And since I have no idea how big he will be come next fall, I’ll just have to wait to start any more projects until the end of summer. Nothing worse then spending time and money knitting something that doesn’t fit!

Goodbye Froggies
We will soon be forced to bid farewell to our favorite PJs thus far…Froggies. Myrna Sell gave us these PJs at my first baby shower in Scottsbluff and they are the cutest things! I wanted to make sure to get a picture posted before they don’t fit anymore…they are millimeters away from being too small. Ethan is even smiling in this picture while wearing them!

I just love those jammies…They too are my favorite.

Stu also had a very dry scalp. Like father, like son…
