Fantabulous Engagement!
Congrats Erika & Jeff
I got a fantastic call the other night.
Actually it was a text message, with a picture, to which I quickly responded with a phone call. I was sworn to secrecy until they went ‘public’ with the news…but now I get to shout it from the rooftops! (blogtops?)
My best friend since college, Erika (you’ve seen her on the blog before) is ENGAGED!!! to the sweet man who swept her off her feet.

Jeff popped the question in a very cute way, in the location of their first kiss—in front of Bed Bath & Beyond of all places—so he is clearly a romantic at heart. He then had a family-packed weekend planed to celebrate the big news. The ring is beautiful, and the date will be set for next summer.

Erika and I have been friends, roomates, and cross-country gal pals since our sophomore year of college. We actually went to high school together, but you know how girls are in high school—one day you are friends, the next you are stealing the other’s boyfriend (true story).
Erika was a big part of my decision to transfer from University of Nebraska-Omaha to the main campus in Lincoln. I was at a very low point and she encouraged me to move into the ‘D Street House’ (aka Estrogen House) with her and three other high school friends. She actually moved into the laundry room to make space for me (granted, it was a big laundry room, but still!).

That year she became my rock…someone who has supported me through highs and lows with unstoppable love and commitment. We’ve been there for each other, no matter how far apart we are. And even though we only see each other a couple times a year (if we are lucky!), it never really feels like we are separated by thousands of miles. Just a phone call, text message, email, Face Book, or Skype! (Man, long distance relationships have come a long way).
I am SO incredibly happy for Erika and for Jeff…he is One. Lucky. Guy.
I can’t wait to be in their wedding. Oh, and Ethan is going to be a ring bearer!! I am over the moon excited to see him in a mini-tuxedo. Now if we can just get him to walk down he aisle…

Beck, you are a doll! I got all choked up reading this blog–we have definitely been each other’s rocks thru the rollercoaster we call life. I could not have been blessed with a better gal pal than you!!! And I’m so pumped to have Ethan as the ring bearer…I have every confidence he’ll be walking all over the place by then!
Oh wow!! I still remember your HS grad vacation to your Grandma in Fl. What a great time we had. There were four of you and so much fun. Four eighteen olds is a lot for a Grandma and Step-grandfather but we kept up pretty good. Congrats to Erika a very special lady. Didn’t she & I go para-sailing?
That’s the best news!!! So happy for Ericka and Jeff. Can’t wait for the festivities. I’m trying to envision Ethan walking down the aisle. Wow!!
