Ethan is 10 Months Old!

2011 November 1
by Becky

This officially proves that I did not fully acknowledge the month of October. The 29th came and went without a celebration of Ethan turning 10 months old! Ok, so we were a little distracted with the ‘family cold’ and Halloween, but it’s no excuse.

Or maybe I’m just trying to hide from the fact that in two months our Peanut will be one year old. I can’t believe it! I feel like there are a million things we need to squeeze into those last two months of baby-hood.

Here’s what Ethan is up to:

  • He weighs 16 pounds and is 26.5 inches long
  • He spends most of his time on his tummy or hands and knees.
  • He really wants to crawl, but can’t figure out how to go forward…only backward.
  • He is very interested in pulling up on furniture, the bath tub side, and people. He can stand for longer and longer periods of time—always holding on to something of course.
  • He loves walks more then ever now. He is so happy in the stroller, kicking his legs and making the occasional noise. He’s always up for a walk or jog in the fall weather.
  • He is fearless with the animals. This includes ‘pouncing’ (falling) on Murphy and pulling Dewey’s limbs like they are chew toys. The animals are unbelievably patient with it all.
  • He is still eating homemade purees three times a day. His only finger foods are animal and graham crackers (which turn to mush in his mouth). I also gave him a low-sugar chocolate cracker one time…he loved it (see picture below).
  • He continues to nurse 5 times a day and absolutely loves it.
  • He is obsessed with taking off his socks.
  • His noises include ‘ah’, ‘bababa’, and ‘gagaga’. I swear I’ve heard a few ‘mamamas’ and ‘dadadas’ but it’s probably just wishful thinking.
  • He loves to lay down in the tub at the end of each bath. He just lets himself fall backwards (we catch him) so he can relax in the water for a bit.
  • He loves when we sing and/or clap…hopefully someday soon he will partake in both!
  • He is taking more interest in other kids, especially 3-4 year olds that can entertain him.
  • He smiles, laughs, and gets excited when Stu or I coming in the room after being gone. It’s one of my favorite things ever.
Ethan continues to be a very chill baby. Yes he can get upset when he’s tired or hungry, but otherwise he is happy and will go to anyone…he has no fear of new people yet (and here’s hoping he never does).

I’m really hoping Little Man crawls by the time he’s one, which seems very likely, but I’m happy if he just takes his time with walking. I’m not yet ready to chase him around!
