Eight years ago we registered for these plates.

You know how wedding registry goes…most is stuff you need, but a few too-cute-to-pass-up things make it on the list.

I couldn’t resist them, being the cheese fan that I am.

And while very cute, we have NEVER used them.

I don’t know why!

Maybe it’s because there are only four?
Maybe they are too small?
Maybe I just forget they are in our hutch?

Whatever the reason, they nearly made it in our donation pile this week in my effort to rid our lives of extra stuff.

But I couldn’t do it. I love them too much! So I decided it was time to get them out of the hutch and onto the wall.

I started with a plate hanging method I’ve used before after learning about it Craftaholics Anonymous blog. I’d never really thought about hanging plates before, but it’s a great way to use cute ones you find in specialty stores and/or antique shops.

It all starts with a little bit of super glue and a medium-size paper clip.

Put a dollop of glue on the plate, then place the head (closure part) in the glue. Then just LEAVE it. Don’t touch it! Walk away from the plate for at least several hours. I don’t even attempt to hang mine for 24 hours.

The paper clip makes a perfect hanger! Just use the loopy end for your nail. And hang away!

I’ve used this method on several plates, always with great success. If you are nervous, place a pillow under the plates for the first day or so, just in case. And I always make sure the super glue I buy lists “glass and ceramic” on the package. Works like a charm!

So now our adorable little cheese plates make our dining room a little more interesting and we will be able to gaze upon them every day!

Why didn’t I think of this before?

Have you hung plates on your wall? Are you going to give it a try?
