A Walk In The Park

On Wednesday we woke up refreshed…Ethan was a big sleeper! And when we realized it was a beautiful morning, we grabbed the Dew-man and headed to Forest Park for a walk.

For non-St. Louisans, Forest Park is a 1,293 acre park in St. Louis city. It borders Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Children’s Hospital, and Washington University’s main campus. It is full of amazing fountains, ponds, and plants. It is also home to our Zoo, History Museum, Art Museum, Muny Amphitheater, and two golf courses. Let’s just say it’s incredible.

Stu and I love it for the wonderful gravel and concrete paths snaking throughout. We’ve done our marathon/half marathon training there and love to take walks there with Dewey. And now we have to show Ethan all that Forest Park has to offer.

While we haven’t hit prime blooming season yet, there were daffodils, magnolias, and tulips all around. And it isn’t quite baby season, but soon there will be duckling and gosling running around everywhere.

This walk was momentous because it was my first try with baby and Dewey on my own. Dewey can be a challenging walker because of his bad pulling habit, but I hooked his lease on the stroller using my Mommy Hook and took of. He was almost run over by the stroller a couple times, but he got the hang of things pretty quickly.

After three miles we were done—I’m not in the shape I used to be! And the wind kicked up a little. But we’ll keep getting out there and soon I’ll be back in the swing of things. Getting sleep helps tremendously in the energy department!

Love the Walk in the Park.
And you can tell Ethan that Forest Park was also the site of the 1904 Worlds Fair which featured the First Ice Cream Cone, the First Hot Dog and the First Iced Tea……not to mention that the First Olympic Games in the United States were held in Forest Park during the 1904 Worlds Fair.
What a Park to take a Walk in.

One of my girlfriends has the mommy hook but being the cheapo I am I decided to go to the local hardware store aka Home Depot and bought one that is pretty much the exact same thing without the padding on the hook! It was only $2.39! I use it on our mini stroller to hold my purse all the time when running errands :)
    Great pictures!
